Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism

Congratulations on the birth of your child!  We are happy for you!  We provide these guidelines as you prepare to have your child baptized.

If you are looking to have your child baptized at St. Matthew Parish, you need to be a member here or have permission from the parish you belong to as your child is baptized into the Roman Catholic family.

Baptisms are now taking place after Masses during the month.  We have a baptismal prep DVD, "Your Baby's Baptism" with Fr. Jim Deiters, for you to watch if this is your first child to be baptized.  You may pick it up at the Parish Center prior to the baptism date and return on or before the day of the baptism.

To schedule a baptism you would call the office at least a month ahead so we have your completed Baptism Registration Form and make sure the requested date does not conflict with other parish events.  A stipend of $15 is paid to the parish, which will go to Love Life, a charitable organization that helps needy families with young children.

Concerning the two godparents you choose for your child, we ask that one of the godparents is a confirmed Roman Catholic, as one of the godparents’ role is passing on the Roman Catholic faith to your child.

So again we congratulate you and look forward to the baptism of your child. If you have any questions please contact Ann Dabeck at the parish office, 920-435-6811 ext. 304 or email anndabeck2232@gmail.com.
