5th Sunday of Lent |
2023 Summer Service Week Summer service trips have long been a tradition at St. Matthew. Since the year 2000 St. Matt’s has been offering summer service weeks with our parish teens. Our 2023 YNIA will be local and parish based. We’ll be teaming up with local service agencies for the volunteer opportunities, while doing prayer and reflection on the faith-based reasons behind serving our brothers and sisters. Our summer service week will be held June 12-17. While we are still working on the details, the week would include interactions with local pantries and shelters as well as inter-cultural experiences. The week will culminate in helping with prep and set up for the local Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 17. Each day we’ll gather at 8:30 am for prayer and team building before heading out to serve. We’ll plan to put in a full work day, incorporating time for reflecting on our experiences and how our Church speaks to what we have been doing. Our day will end by 4:30 or so. Our service week will include both middle school and high school students; students should be entering 7th grade or older. We will also need virtus certified adults willing to be part of our team. Please contact Mike Westenberg with questions about the week. Registration is limited. Registration forms available through the parish office. |
