Service of Remembrance "Celebration of Eternal Life"

On the weekend of November 7/8 at all Masses, we will have our annual Service of Remembrance. We are inviting all families of St. Matthew parishioners who have died during this past year to join with our parish community as we remember in a special way their deceased loved ones.

Many parishioners have also had deaths within their families and their loved ones’ funerals were elsewhere. If you have a relative who died in the past year (whose funeral was NOT at St. Matthew) and would like to have their name read at the Masses on November 7/8, please call the parish office (435-6811) by Monday, November 2 to have your loved one’s name added to the list. Any questions, please call Ann Froelich (ext 310).

Virtual Generations of Faith
Looking for faith enrichment/formation in a format that doesn’t require you to leave the house? This year our St. Matthew GOF program has gone virtual, and will remain that way for the foreseeable future.

Our format this year focuses on the Sunday Gospels as a way to get to know the Word of God better and integrate it into our family and individual lives. Each session will focus on the scriptures used in Sunday mass, and will take a second look and listen to the homily for the weekend. We take time to share reflections and then work on an actionable project so we are living the Word as we walk with one another.

GOF is open to individuals, couples and families of all ages and assortments—anyone who wants to deepen their walk with Christ and grow their household of faith. Questions? Call Mike or Meg at the parish center or reach out via email. We’d love to have you join us. [email protected]

Meals for the Shelter
This year St. Matthew is committing to provide meals for the guests at St. John the Evangelist Shelter. Over the last several years we have committed to providing volunteers for Sunday evenings at the shelter, but for many of our members volunteering in these COVID times is a health risk.

We are hoping that providing meals may provide us an option to support the shelter as a faith community. We have committed to provide 2 Sunday night meals per month, but strongly encourage people to do other dates as well.

We will begin by cooking for 60 guests, though that number will rise as the winter settles in and more people seek shelter. Meals must be delivered hot and ready to serve at 5:15 on the evening you are providing the meal. Here are the dates we have for November through January: November 29, December 6, December 20, January 3 and January 17. Other dates are available. To sign up to cook for any of these nights on behalf of the parish, please contact Mike Westenberg, [email protected] or 435-6811.
