Sunday Mass Obligation
Bishop Ricken spoke of the Sunday obligation to attend Mass this week. As people of faith (missionary disciples), we believe it is important to worship on the weekend. Our parish mission statement is "Come, Follow Me." (Mt 9:9) As we seek to keep each other safe while also responding to Christ’s call to follow, we understand, too, that we are still living through a pandemic. The St. Matthew community will continue to offer a variety of ways to fulfill our need and desire to worship together on the weekend.
We welcome you to join us for the Eucharist in person. However, if you are still unable to attend, or uneasy attending, we encourage you to join us online for the weekend liturgy. We will offer a brief Communion service on Sundays (11:30-11:50 a.m.) Your safety and health are the most important obligations to the Lord.
Still Time to Sign Up for GOF!
Generations of Faith is our parish catechetical program that utilizes a whole family, all ages approach. The focus is on families with children in public schools/homeschooling but all families and all ages are invited to participate. Our GOF nights will be done virtually through Zoom and family centered, like our opening segments were last year. In addition to the live session, there will be hands-on activities and projects. Visit stmattsgb.org/gof for more information and to register. Contact Mike Westenberg with questions [email protected] or 435-6811.
40 Days For Life Fall 2020 begins on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd. St. Matt's is committed to having prayer warriors on the sidewalk along Oneida St. on Wednesdays from 2-4 PM, as well as Mondays from 3-4 PM and Tuesdays from 9-10 AM for 40 days until November 1st. Our peaceful, prayerful witness is calling for an end to abortion and support of all life issues. Please consider joining fellow parishioners on the sidewalk for these "holy moments." Contact Amy Weiss at [email protected] or 920-360-2357 with questions or to get involved.
