  • Service of Remembrance Weekend

Saturday Nov 3, 2018 All day

On the weekend of November 3/4 we will have our annual Service of Remembrance at all Mass times. We have invited all families of St. Matthew parishioners who have died during this past year to join with our parish community as we remember their deceased loved ones. During the Mass we will present families with a cross bearing their loved one’s name and light a candle in their memory. If you have a relative who died in the past year (who was NOT buried at St. Matthew) and would like to have their name read, please call the parish office (435-6811) by Tuesday, October 30, to have your loved one’s name added to the list. Any questions, please call Ann Froelich. Thank you.

  • Snow Pants & Snow Boots Collection

Saturday Nov 3, 2018 All day

Beginning November 3rd & 4th, the St. Matthew Parish Council kicks off the third annual collection of winter outerwear to be distributed to low income children attending at risk schools in our area. A pack-n-play will be set up in the gathering space for you to deposit new snow pants (sizes XS to XL) and winter boots (sizes 7-13 and 1-6). If you would prefer to have a Council Member do the shopping for you, donations are happily accepted. Please put your donation in an envelope marked “Snow pants/snow boots” and drop it in the collection basket or off at the parish office. Make checks payable to “St. Matthew Parish” and “snow pants/boots” in the memo line. Note: if you are a parishioner & teacher at a school that would benefit from this collection contact the parish office. The drive will end Thanksgiving weekend. Contact the parish office with questions, 435-6811. Thank you for your generosity!

  • Alpha Session

    Monday Nov 5, 2018 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Be part of an adventure this fall!
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Typically run over eleven weeks, each session looks at a different question that people can have about faith and is designed to create conversation. It's an open, informal and honest space to explore and discuss faith and life's big questions together.

Alpha is run in local communities all around the world, and everyone's welcome. No two Alphas look the same, but they do have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation.

Each session takes a look at a question people have about faith and following Jesus. Some of the talk topics include: Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus die? How can I have faith? Why and how do I pray? Why and how should I read the bible? Who is the Holy Spirit? Does God heal today? How does God guide us? How do I make the most of the rest of my life?

The course is absolutely free. Feel free to invite friends, family, anyone who you think might be interested. All are welcome - you don’t have to be part of the parish or Catholic to participate.

St. Matt’s Fall Alpha begins September 17th. Visit http://www.stmattsgb.org/Alpha for more information and to sign up.
