Lenten Almsgiving

This weekend (March 23rd & 24th) the parish will be using our loose collection to help our local law enforcement purchase hotel vouchers to use in emergency homeless situations. There are no emergency shelters available for families in the Green Bay area. When the local police find families who are in crisis homeless situations they use these hotel vouchers to provide shelter for the families as they connect them with agencies and organizations that can help with a more permanent solution. The police are able to get one night vouchers for $42. Please consider throwing in for a night of shelter if you can, or contribute whatever might work for you. Whatever you put in the collection basket this weekend that is undesignated will go towards the fund the police use in voucher purchases. If you would like to give a check, please make it out to the parish as usual and put it in an envelope that states “Homeless Voucher Fund”. You can also put the voucher fund in the notation on the check. Thank you for considering making this part of your Lenten almsgiving.

MLB Weekend

Just a friendly reminder that this weekend March 23rd & 24th is MLB weekend at church. Wear your team apparel when you come for mass as we celebrate another rite within Spring – the official start of baseball season!

Change the World this Lent

Help us support feeding starving children around the world with your “alms” this Lent! Collect your quarters and loose change around the house and bring them in to help buy food for the 2019 Mobile Pack! This October St. Matthew will again participate in the MobilePack event as a partner church. We'll be packing nutritional meals that will be sent around the world to help feed God’s children. Our goal this year is to work with our partner churches and organizations to buy ingredients and package over 750,000 meals in 4 days in Green Bay!

Here's How You Can Help

  • Buy a tube of M&M’s and eat them – so far so good, right? They are $1 each and available in the St. Matt's gathering space.
  • Next, fill the empty tube with quarters! Perhaps you can put a bowl on your kitchen or dining room table and have everyone in the house throw their loose change in there.
  • As you fill your M&M tube, bring it with you (along with the rest of the change) to empty into our Change the World jug (the jug will be in the gathering space each weekend of Lent and each Generations of Faith session). It’s a lot like the old Rice Bowl idea (for those who remember that)……..but more fun, because…….well…………M&M’s!

Sunday Connection

This weekend's connection: Third Sunday of Lent

Here at St. Matthew we have added the Sunday Connection Scripture readings from Loyola Press to our website. The upcoming Sunday's readings are put into everyday English and broken down into school age groups to help children, adults, and families connect with one another. More
