Generations of Faith has several components.
Our "festivals of faith" bring together everyone in our community; youth and adults, children and parents, families and singles. Parents attend these events with their children. This models our life-long need to feed our faith and deepen our relationship with Christ to our children.
GOF Faith Festivals are held twice each month, the first and third weeks.
The first session of the month will focus on The Sacraments. The second session of the month will focus on What Makes Us Catholic - lessons drawn from the Catechism to further our knowledge and understanding about what the Catholic Church believes and teaches.
The first session of the month will be offered both on Wednesday night and Saturday morning. Participants will choose which meeting works best for in their schedule. The second session of the month is offered only on Wednesday. The varied time offerings are meant to provide families some flexibility.
All of our Faith Festivals begin with a meal and an opportunity to meet and share with members of the community, then move into large group and age-appropriate learning sessions. Our children and youth tracks are led by Generations team members and assistants; adult sessions are led by parish staff or guest presenters;.
Our Wednesday night meals begin at 5:15, meal time will end at 5:50. The learning session begins at 6 pm and ends no later than 7:30. For those choosing the Saturday option for the first session, breakfast begins at 9 am with the learning component scheduled from 9:30 till 11.
The Sunday liturgy is the foremost place we celebrate our faith and it is one of the key times for catechesis or faith formation. The themes we follow in our GOF gatherings are drawn from the faith we celebrate as community through our liturgy. It is essential that our journey of discipleship lead us to the Eucharist - to celebrate and give thanks, and to receive strength and encouragement.
Watch for special programs, gatherings, services for our high school and middle school youth throughout the year. Youth speakers at the liturgies this fall will highlight upcoming activities. Programming is developed by our Youth Leadership Team working together with the parish youth minister and adult volunteers.
Special meetings are held to help children preparing for their first reception of the Eucharist, first participation in the sacrament of Reconciliation, and Confirmation. Parents and families are actively engaged in the preparation process.
Throughout the year the parish will provide opportunities to work together on a common service project. Some will be adult and teen oriented, some will be open to the whole family.
Through various forms of technology, we'll provide ways to extend our learning and faith experiences beyond our community gatherings. Regular emails and Facebook messages will provide program highlights, link you to resources and give event notices and reminders.
