Merry Christmas Season

Merry Christmas!

That’s right…….its still Christmas!  Despite the fact that we’ll start seeing trees along the curb and the all the entertainment and retail buzz is about new years……in the Church we are still celebrating Christmas.  Why?  Because the Incarnation is the BIG Deal of the Big Deals!  Our whole belief system as Christians revolves around it – God loved his creation soooo much God united with and became one with us – became one of us – became human like us.   God has forever (and ever) pitched Gods tent amongst us – through, with and in.

In the Church, we take 4 weeks to prepare for it – and then we relish the celebration of the mystery…..stretching it out if you will, reveling in the wonder of it….

We celebrated Christ’s birth on Christmas, then last Sunday celebrated the fact that Christ was born into and lived in and grew up in and through a family……one fraught with challenges and difficulties and uncertainties just like mine and yours – on January 1 we celebrate the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary …..that God chose to be born into creation through being conceived in the womb of a virgin, and grew and came into this human life the same way we all do – through life in the womb…….this coming Sunday we celebrate the Epiphany with the Magi….the awesome realizing and glimpsing of the the significance of this child ……and on Sunday January 9 we end the Christmas season by celebrating the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist.  That makes 16 days of Christmas this year!

January GOF next week –Mark your new Calendar

Next Week is GOF Week!

It’ll come quick after the break so double check those new calendars you got this Christmas and be sure you have the date secured.  Sessions will be available both Wednesday evening and Saturday morning next week.

If you are one of our families who haven’t quite made it yet this year, start the new year out right by jumping back in this session.  We look forward to having you back with us.

Clear out your Christmas cookies by bringing them next week to GOF for dessert.  Quick, before they are all eaten up,  box some up and freeze them – then bring them with you next Wednesday or Saturday!

See you in Church!

Mike
