No Room in the Inn...

Looks like there is no room in cyberspace for this blog - I just typed and lost all of the version 1 "wisdom"...oh, well...must be IE 9.0 on my laptop...

Here is what I remember from what was written and lost and found...

Fr Phillip had a great reflection on the midnight mass gospel reading from Luke using the phase - "there was no room for them in the inn".

As I (Wayne) reflect on going to work with David and Alison in about 90 minues to our evening Packers versus Bears game, it is easy to think that there isn't any room for Jesus today.  I balance that with our whole family participating in our 10am choir/mass AND the lovely Christmas brunch that we just enjoyed with our family! Maybe my expectations of Christmas need to be adjusted, slightly.

In the gospel from Luke, our Holy Family did what we often have to do when there is "no room in the inn" - they chose to use the space available - a stable with a manger. We often have to adapt to make room for Jesus in whatever way we can and with whatever time we have available.

Likewise, in our marriages, we may not have "any time" for our spouse but I would challenge us to broaden our perspective and see times of decorating the tree, getting ready to visit with relatives, drives in the car, and cleaning, cooking and eating as THE time where we can share the joy of Christmas with our spouse!

May the love of Jesus be the light of the season for you!
