For a few years now, we have been reading a weekly column by Father Ron Rolheiser. (We go on-line to read him, but he is also in the Compass.) A few weeks back he wrote an article on Love and Ritual. Here is an excerpt:
"Irritation, anger, and boredom within a relationship do not necessarily mean that love has died. Love rests at a deeper place. How do we touch that deeper place while experiencing those not-so-loving-feelings? RITUAL. Our lives...are sustained by small and big rituals that keep us together, keep us repsectful, and let us wait in patience throughout the ups and downs of shared life."
Wayne and I kiss hello and good-bye daily...even when we don't feel like it.
What type of rituals keep you together when you are not feeling connected?
