You know you've been married a long time when your kids can mimic your fighting styles. The other night at dinner we were entertained by a re-enactment of our usual fight. The kids analysed us in this way..."Dad starts out by yelling, then walks away, then comes back and apologizes...Mom is just silent until she wants to talk."
Unfortunately, the kids are pretty acurate. They might not know exactly what we are fighting about, but patterns have emerged. We always lament the fact that we set a pretty bad example of a fair fight, but I am quite certain that the kids have learned that forgiveness in marraige is crucial to a long and happy relationship.
What have your kids learned about fighting by observing you? (positives and negatives)
