Marriage Symbol - The Ring

This week I got the great privilege and honor to receive a Super Bowl XLV ring during the ceremony at Lambeau Field. The ring is a great symbol of all efforts by employees and departments that culminated in our victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas.

As I looked at my wedding band, that plain, gold ring, it does not have any of the sparkle or direct symbolism that the new Packers ring has - 4 Super Bowls, 92 seasons, 13 championships.

As I talked with people, I said that my plain, ordinary ring is much more valuable to me. It is a symbol and a reminder of my life-long commitment to Jolene (24 years next Monday), our blessing of 4 children, our life of joy and sorrow, selfishness and forgiveness, love and frustration, and our opporunity to practice this each day. Our wedding ring has the power to make the ordinary quite extraordinary when seen with eyes of love!
